Last week, I was shopping for a cute new outfit to wear to my friend’s birthday dinner.
I headed to ASTR The Label, which is usually my go-to for chic, affordable pieces. But when I got there, I was disappointed to see they didn’t have anything new that spoke to me.
I was bummed, wondering where I could find stylish clothes similar to ASTR but with some fresh options.
That’s when I decided to do some research on ASTR alternatives.
And let me tell you, I struck gold! I uncovered tons of brands that have that same effortlessly cool vibe as ASTR, but with their own unique flair.

I’m dishing on a few awesome ASTR alternatives today – brands that I guarantee you’ll fall in love with!
Reformation
Known for their sustainable practices and feminine dresses, Reformation is a great ASTR alternative. Their aesthetic has that laidback, Cali-girl vibe with lots of fun prints and lightweight fabrics.
Reformation is big on using eco-friendly and recycled materials, so you can feel good about shopping there.
Some of my favorite pieces are their floral wrap dresses, ruffled mini skirts, and printed blouses. I recently picked up the Winslow dress in a bold cherry print – perfect for a summer garden party or date night! And the fabric is so soft and lightweight, ideal for hot weather.
Reformation’s prices are very similar to ASTR too, usually ranging from $50-200 for most items. Overall, if you love ASTR for their effortless romantic vibe and affordable price point, Reformation is a seamless substitute.
Anthropologie
While Anthropologie has a wide range, their breezy blouses and boho dresses definitely echo the ASTR style.
Flowy silhouettes, unique patterns, and whimsical details define the Anthropologie brand.
I love browsing their dress section because they always have so many feminine and flirty options that remind me of ASTR – ruffled wrap dresses, maxi dresses with lace trim and flutter sleeves, tie-neck blouses.
Lots of beautiful florals and nature-inspired prints too. Anthropologie is a great spot to find dresses for weddings, showers, and spring/summer events.
And they have a ton of fun jewelry and accessories too like beaded handbags, woven hats, and boho headbands that give off an earthy vibe. Bonus – they have stores nationwide so you can try pieces on in-person!
Free People
Known for their indie-chic, groovy vibe, Free People is all about statement pieces that have a carefree, relaxed aesthetic.
Lots of crochet, embroidery, peasant tops – think Coachella-inspired.
I’m obsessed with their Whisper Light Dress – it’s made of the softest floral cotton that floats away from the body, perfect for warm weather.
And so many options to rock at music festivals too – wide leg pants, off-the-shoulder tops, wrap skirts. The prices are a bit higher than ASTR, but you can often find good deals on sale items or at Nordstrom Rack.
Free People is always releasing limited edition collections too so there’s constantly something new to discover. Overall, a fun boho option when you want a more playful vibe than ASTR.
Mango
This Spanish brand has mastered casual-chic style at an affordable price point. They are especially great for trendy tops, sweaters, jackets and more – all with that European flair.
Mango gives me similar laidback vibes as ASTR but with more prints, patterns and details. I just bought the cutest floral print blazer from Mango that instantly elevates any outfit.
And their selection of denim is amazing – so many cute silhouettes from skinny to wide leg, all in that mid-range $50-100 price point.
Lots of neutrals like creams, whites and taupes giving their pieces a minimalist aesthetic. If ASTR’s laidback look is your jam, Mango is a spot-on substitute.
Zara
The OG of fast fashion, Zara is always on top of the latest trends with chic pieces that won’t break the bank.
From dresses to denim to shoes, their inventory changes constantly so you’ll always find fresh new goodies.
Zara’s collections are a mix of basics and trendy going-out looks, much like ASTR’s selection of everyday and dressier pieces.
I always find cute new arrivals in their dress section – silky slip dresses, one-shoulder minis, ruched bodycon, lots of satin fabrics and bold prints.
And their jeans come in so many cool silhouettes, like wide-leg, balloon, split hem, always right on trend. Their aesthetic definitely has those hints of model-off-duty vibes similar to ASTR. But an added bonus is they churn out new inventory so frequently, you’ll never get bored.
Madewell
Known for premium denim and elevated basics, Madewell definitely overlaps with ASTR’s casual-cool aesthetic.
Lots of great tees, button-downs, sweaters and more in a muted color palette. If you love ASTR for their perfect weekend staples, Madewell is spot-on. I live in their slim boyjeans – they come in so many washes and fits, flattering on every figure.

But their classic button-downs, sweater vests, and jeans still channel that carefree, All-American vibe that ASTR is known for. J.Crew is my go-to for office-friendly pieces – their sleeveless sweaters, midi skirts, and tailored blazers are staples in my work wardrobe.
Lots of jewel tones too like deep greens, rich plums, azure blues. And I can’t resist their stripes and gingham prints that scream spring and summer.

Topshop
Another spot-on substitute for ASTR is British brand Topshop. They nail it with casual separates and flirty dresses primed for a night out. Lots of wearable prints, fabrics and silhouettes so you can always find something stylish.

A sophisticated step up from ASTR, Veronica Beard nails chic sophistication with a side of flirty femininity.
