We want everyone to be able to read and use NeedleStar, whatever device, browser or assistive technology they use.
Our aim
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. This is the standard we work toward; we do not claim that every page already meets it.
What we work on
- Text alternatives for images.
- Headings in a logical order, so a screen reader can move through a page.
- Enough contrast between text and its background.
- Pages that can be used with a keyboard alone.
- Text that stays readable when you zoom to 200%, and a layout that works on a phone.
What may still fall short
Some older articles, and content that comes from other services (embedded videos, advertising, and product boxes from shops), may not fully meet these guidelines. We fix problems on our own pages as we find them.
Tell us about a problem
If something on NeedleStar is hard to use, or does not work with your assistive technology, please write to [email protected] or use our contact page. Tell us the page address and what happened, and we will do our best to fix it or to get you the information another way.
